No, our Carlisle office isn't going quackers!
Today marks the exciting launch of our "Get Your Ducks in a Row" programme, specifically designed for young people aged 16-18 who are not currently in work, employment or education. This initiative is specifically designed to provide a supportive and engaging environment where participants can develop essential life skills.
Programme Overview
Set in an informal, fun, and friendly atmosphere, the weekly sessions are aimed at helping participants build:
• Confidence to believe in their own abilities and trusting themself to handle various situations effectively.
• Effective Communication so they can clearly express their thoughts, actively listen, and understand others to achieve mutual goals.
• Problem-Solving skills to identifying issues, analyse them, and finding practical solutions to overcome obstacles or challenges.
• Motivation so they have the inner drive that pushes them to pursue their goals, stay focused, and maintain enthusiasm even when faced with difficulties or setbacks.
These components are crucial for empowering young people to take control of their future and make positive strides toward their goals.
The Symbolism of Ducks
You might be wondering, why ducks? Each duck symbolises a key element of life that needs to be in sync for young people to successfully move forward—hence the phrase "having their ducks in a row."
Here are the elements represented by each duck:
• Physical Health: Emphasising the importance of maintaining good physical health to support overall well-being.
• Mental Health: Focusing on mental wellness, encouraging open discussions, and providing strategies to manage stress and emotions.
• Skills: Developing practical skills that are valuable in both personal and professional contexts.
• Attributes: Cultivating positive personal attributes such as resilience, adaptability, and positivity.
• Friends and Family: Understanding the role of social support and building strong, healthy relationships.
