Dean had been out of work for over a year and a half and was struggling to secure employment. He had attended several job interviews but had not been successful in obtaining a position.
Referred by his Jobcentre Plus work coach to get some CV support, Dean had his first appointment with the National Career Service in March. This was closely followed by a group workshop to help Dean prepare for interviews.
In the workshop Dean was provided with information about the top ten interview questions employers ask as well as help to answer competency-based questions. Dean was also encouraged to prepare for and participate in a mock interview. After the final mock-interview practice session, Dean felt he would be able to provide stronger answers and answer questions more confidently in future interviews.
Following a successful application for a Data Input role with Capita, Dean was offered the role.
Dean feels if he had been hesitant in attending the advice session, there would have been a possibility he would not have secured the role and would still be searching for work.
Dean said, "I would recommend the National Career Service to anyone who's hesitant, as the support provided was helpful and would be helpful to others."
