Charlotte contacted Inspira as she had been out of work for around 6 months, with experience as a Lecturer and Teacher of Business Studies within Advanced Engineering. She decided now would be a good time for a career change.
Charlotte had been applying for Executive Officer roles or above positions and felt like she had ‘nailed’ the interviews, but later found out she was unsuccessful despite initial positive feedback from the interviewers. Delia, an Inspira Careers Adviser sat down with her and discussed interview methods she’d been using. Despite using The STAR method, she still had no success. If you need help with interviews check out our Interview Toolkit.
Together they went over feedback she had received from her previous interviews. A fresh set of eyes on this meant Delia was able to give Charlotte further, more detailed support on some negative words that she had used that the interviewers had noticed. By giving examples as to how the appropriate sections could be re-worded using positive words, Charlotte implemented this into her interviews and promised to get back in touch after her interviews.
“Since we last spoke, I have been successful at interview for an Admin Officer, then I had 3 Executive Officer interviews and was offered all 3, I am having an interview for a Higher Executive Officer position tomorrow. If tomorrow's interview isn't successful, I will be starting work as an Executive Officer.”
